Become a Host

To become a SVC Host family, the following steps are in place:

  • Application - A completed Host Family Application Package must be filled out and returned to the Homestay Coordinator. Package includes:
  • A completed and signed application, to include references with mailing address.
  • A completed and signed hosting agreement.
  • A completed and signed disclosure of information form.
  • A completed Washington State Patrol (WSP) application for each household resident age 18 or older. Note: WSP Criminal History Check must be completed and approved to go forward with the application process.

Home Visit – The Homestay Coordinator will visit your home. At this time, she/he will interview the family members and ask questions about the family’s lifestyle. A tour of the house will be included, with special attention given to the room(s) for the prospective student(s). Any additional paperwork will be left for the family to complete. The Coordinator may take digital pictures of the family and home.

Orientation – A Homestay orientation is held at the time of the Home Visit, arrange visit accordingly to allow time for this. It is mandatory that at least one parent from the prospective Homestay family attend although it is beneficial for all involved.

Once a completed application, signed hosting agreement, signed disclosure of information form, and Washington State Patrol application(s) have been returned to the Homestay Coordinator, a home visit and orientation has been conducted, all prerequisites for student placement have been met; you will be ready to host.
